The five limbs of the Panchang
Panchang means "five limbs." Tithi is the lunar day — the angle between Moon and Sun in 12° steps, thirty across the month. Vaar is the weekday and its planetary lord. Nakshatra is the star the Moon occupies (27 in all, each 13°20'). Yoga is a Sun-plus-Moon combination (27 named yogas), and Karana is half a tithi (eleven karanas cycling). Read together they give the character of the day.
Why it is anchored to sunrise — and to your city
The panchang for a date is read at local sunrise. Because sunrise shifts with latitude and longitude, the tithi and nakshatra prevailing at sunrise — and every timing derived from them — genuinely differ from city to city. This tool computes from your city's real sunrise rather than copying one location's almanac, which is why it asks for your city.

What is Shani Sade Sati?
Sade Sati is the roughly 7½-year period when Saturn transits the twelfth, first and second signs counted from your natal Moon sign, in three phases of about 2½ years each — traditionally a time of testing, responsibility and maturing.
How do I know which phase I am in?
Rising = Saturn in the 12th from your Moon, peak = Saturn over your Moon sign, setting = Saturn in the 2nd. This tool finds your Moon sign and today's Saturn sign and names the phase and its end.
