The Hora system gives each hour-like span of the day to one of the seven classical planets, cycling in a fixed order from the weekday's lord at sunrise — Venus opens Friday, Jupiter opens Thursday, and so on. Day Horas are one-twelfth of the actual daylight and night Horas one-twelfth of the night, so their clock times move with your city and the season; this tool computes all 24 from the real Sun rather than assuming fixed 60-minute hours.

The Chaldean order above (Sun → Venus → Mercury → Moon → Saturn → Jupiter → Mars, repeating) is the fixed cycle every Hora follows through the day and night, always starting from that weekday's own ruling planet at sunrise.
Practical use is simple and old: Jupiter Hora for money, marriage talks and beginnings; Venus Hora for love, art and vehicle purchase; Mercury Hora for business, contracts and study; Moon Hora for travel and home matters; Sun Hora for government and authority work; Saturn and Mars Horas are kept for their own natures — labour and discipline, courage and surgery — not for gentle new starts.
How the hora is calculated
A hora is one twelfth of the day (sunrise to sunset) or of the night (sunset to next sunrise), so it is about an hour long only near the equinoxes; in summer the day horas are longer and the night horas shorter. The first hora after sunrise belongs to the lord of the weekday, and the rest follow the fixed Chaldean order: Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, then Sun again. That is why the calculator needs your city: the hora changes with your own sunrise.

A hora refines a choice within a day; it does not override a bad tithi, Rahu Kaal or an unfavourable dasha. For anything important, check Rahu Kaal and Choghadiya for the same day too.
Hora chakra: the seven horas and their significance (Subha Horai)
The day from sunrise is divided into twelve horas and the night into twelve more, each ruled by one of the seven planets in the fixed order Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars; the first hora of the day belongs to the weekday's lord. In Tamil Nadu the same scheme is called horai, and the good ones subha horai.

How this is calculated
Sunrise and sunset are computed for the latitude and longitude of the city you choose, and the day and night are divided by the classical rule for each period. Tithi and nakshatra come from the Moon's and Sun's positions on the Swiss Ephemeris, with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa for sidereal values. Method reviewed by Dr. R.P. What is the first hora of each day?
The lord of the weekday: Sun on Sunday, Moon on Monday, Mars on Tuesday, Mercury on Wednesday, Jupiter on Thursday, Venus on Friday and Saturn on Saturday; the next horas follow the order Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars.
Is a hora always one hour long?
No. It is one twelfth of the day or of the night at your place, so day horas are longer than an hour in summer and shorter in winter, and night horas the reverse.
Which Hora is best for buying a vehicle or gold?
Venus Hora is the classical choice for vehicles, ornaments and luxury purchases; Jupiter Hora is equally favoured for gold and wealth. Avoid overlapping Rahu Kaal — check both tools for the same city and date.
Why is the first Hora different each day?
The day's first Hora at sunrise always belongs to that weekday's planetary lord — Sun on Sunday, Moon on Monday, and onward. The cycle then runs in the fixed Chaldean order through all 24 spans.
Are Horas exactly 60 minutes?
No. Day Horas equal one-twelfth of actual daylight and night Horas one-twelfth of the night, so in an Indian summer a day Hora can run 70 minutes while a night Hora runs 50. That is why city-wise computation matters.
