Pitra dosha and Guru Chandal yoga
Two more combinations people often ask about are read from the full chart rather than from a single rule. Pitra dosha is usually linked to the Sun or the 9th house (father and ancestors) being afflicted by Rahu, Ketu or Saturn. Guru Chandal yoga is Jupiter joined by Rahu (or, in some texts, Ketu) in the same sign. Both are judged by the strength of the planets involved, so the full kundli is the better place to read them.
How this is calculated
Planet positions are computed in your browser with astronomical formulas that are checked every night against the Swiss Ephemeris, the standard used by professional astrology software. Sidereal positions use the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, the standard ayanamsa of Indian panchangs, and the birth time is converted from your city's own time zone. Method reviewed by Dr. R.P.
