For progeny (santan), the chart is read from the 5th house and its lord, Jupiter as the karaka of children, and the Saptamsa (D7) divisional chart. A weak or afflicted 5th house, a 5th lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th, or Jupiter combust or aspected by Saturn and Rahu are the classical signs of delay; the timing of conception is then read from the dasha periods of the 5th lord, of Jupiter, or of planets placed in the 5th, together with Jupiter's transit over the 5th house or its lord.
