Vedic numerology rests on three numbers. Your Mulank (birth number) is the digit-sum of your birth day — the temperament you lead with. Your Bhagyank (destiny number) is the digit-sum of the full date — the direction life bends toward. Your name number comes from the Chaldean letter values of the name you actually use — the vibration the world answers to. Each of the nine root numbers answers to a planet, the same rulers used across this site's numerology guide.

Enter your details below; the strip lights up your numbers and their planetary lords. Treat the output as a starting map, not a verdict — name-correction and number remedies should always be weighed against the full kundli, which is exactly how Dr. R.P. Sharma works.

How is your number calculated?

Born 15 March 1990. Mulank: the day only — 1 + 5 = 6. Bhagyank: the whole date — 1+5+3+1+9+9+0 = 28 → 2+8 = 10 → 1+0 = 1. So this person is a 6 by temperament (Venus: charm, comfort, relationships) with a 1 life path (Sun: leadership, independence) — the two numbers pull in different directions, and that tension is the reading.

Name number: each letter has a Chaldean value (A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=8, G=3, H=5, I=1, J=1, K=2, L=3, M=4, N=5, O=7, P=8, Q=1, R=2, S=3, T=4, U=6, V=6, W=6, X=5, Y=1, Z=7); the values are added and reduced. Enter your name above to see it.

Numerology and your kundli — the same nine planets

Every number above is a planet, and every planet sits somewhere in your birth chart. A mulank 8 (Saturn) with a strong, well-placed Saturn in the kundli is a late but durable success story; the same 8 with an afflicted Saturn is the struggle people fear. That is why numerology is read with the chart, never instead of it: the numbers give temperament and naming, the chart gives houses, dashas and timing. See where your planets sit in the free kundli (with the 90-page PDF), check the Moon that rules your 2 in the moon-sign calculator, and take a name or decision question to a consultation.

Numerology calculator — questions people ask

How do I calculate my numerology number from my date of birth?

Add the digits of the day you were born until one digit remains — that is your mulank (a 15th is 1+5 = 6). Add every digit of the full date — day, month and year — until one digit remains for your bhagyank (15 March 1990: 1+5+3+1+9+9+0 = 28 → 2+8 = 10 → 1+0 = 1). The calculator above does both instantly.

What is the difference between mulank and bhagyank?

Mulank (birth number, psychic number) comes from the day alone and describes your temperament — how you think and react. Bhagyank (destiny number, life path) comes from the full date and describes the direction and pattern of the life. Read them together: they agree in some people and pull in different directions in others.

Which number is more important — mulank, bhagyank or name number?

Bhagyank carries the most weight because it uses the whole date; mulank shows the personality; the name number (Chaldean) is the one you can change. Most Indian numerologists read all three and check them against the planets in the kundli.

What are master numbers 11, 22 and 33?

In the Pythagorean system 11, 22 and 33 are not reduced further when they appear in the life path; they are read as amplified 2, 4 and 6 with a higher demand. Indian (Chaldean) numerology reduces to 1–9 and reads 11 as 2 and 22 as 4.

Chaldean or Pythagorean — which system does this calculator use?

Mulank and bhagyank are the same in both systems. For the name number this calculator uses the Chaldean values (1–8, based on sound) that Indian numerology follows; the Pythagorean value (1–9, by alphabet order) is shown alongside where it differs.

Is number 4 or 8 unlucky?

No. 4 (Rahu) and 8 (Saturn) are demanding numbers — they reward late, after effort — which is where the fear comes from. A well-placed Saturn in the kundli makes an 8 one of the strongest numbers to have. Judge by the chart, not by superstition.

Should I change the spelling of my name to a lucky number?

Only when the name number clashes with the mulank and bhagyank and the kundli agrees — and never on a whim. A spelling change is a small, reversible adjustment; it does not override the birth chart.

Which numbers are compatible with mine?

The friendly-number table on this page is the commonly used Indian one (1 with 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9; 8 with 5 and 6; and so on). For a marriage or business partner, the numbers are a first glance — kundli matching gives the real answer.

How do I find my personal year for 2026?

Add your birth day and month to 2026 and reduce to one digit: born 15 March → 1+5+3+2+0+2+6 = 19 → 1+9 = 10 → 1, a personal year 1 (beginnings). The table on this page gives the theme of each year.

Is numerology as accurate as astrology?

Numerology is a supporting system: nine numbers cannot carry the detail of a chart with twelve houses, nine planets and running dashas. It is excellent for temperament and for naming; for timing and for decisions, the kundli decides. The free kundli here gives you both.
