Chhath Puja 2026: Dates, Arghya Timings and Significance
Chhath Puja 2026 reaches its main day on Sunday, 15 November 2026, as part of a four-day festival beginning around 13 November. It is devoted to the Sun God (Surya) and Chhathi Maiya.
The four days
The festival moves through Nahay Khay, Kharna, the evening Sandhya Arghya offered to the setting sun, and the morning Usha Arghya to the rising sun. Devotees observe rigorous fasting and pray standing in water.
Gratitude to the Sun
Chhath is among the most disciplined and heartfelt of festivals, a profound thanksgiving to the sun, the source of all life, especially loved across Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern UP.
Chhath bows equally to the setting and the rising sun, to endings and beginnings alike.
