The rule behind each date
An Ekadashi tithi lasts roughly a day but rarely lines up with the calendar. The fast is kept on the day at whose arunodaya — about 96 minutes before sunrise — the Ekadashi tithi is running; if the tithi starts after that moment and ends before the next one, the fast moves to the following morning (which is why Dev Uthani 2026 is the 21st, not the 20th, even though the tithi begins on the 20th). The parana is taken the next morning after sunrise. Why do some calendars show a different date?
