The tradition of purchasing metal items is often interpreted as a symbolic gesture of inviting durability and stability into one's home. From a Phalit Jyotish perspective, maintaining a balanced environment and focusing on one's physical constitution is a prudent way to honor the energy of this day.

Traditional Practices and Planetary Alignment

While many traditions exist, the core of Dhanteras involves the lighting of a lamp, known as the Yama Deepam, to acknowledge the cycle of life and the transition of time. Placing a lamp near the entrance of the house is a symbolic act of clearing darkness.
