The dasha system tells you which chapters of life are open; transits tell you the weather inside the chapter. Slow movers set the season: Saturn matures whatever house it walks through, Jupiter protects and expands, and the Rahu–Ketu axis redirects attention for eighteen months at a stretch.

How do you read a transit for yourself?

A transit page tells you where a planet is. It cannot tell you what that means for you, because the same position falls in a different house for every reader. The step most people skip is counting the house from their own Moon or lagna.

What can a transit page not tell you?

Whether it applies to you. A transit is one factor; the running dasha is usually the stronger one. A difficult transit during a supportive dasha is often barely felt, and a mild transit during a hard dasha can land heavily. Anyone predicting your year from a transit alone is working with a fraction of the picture.
