The two uses share a root, but an astrological yoga has nothing to do with postures or breathing.

How are the best-known yogas defined?
- Gaja Kesari yoga: Jupiter in a kendra (1st, 4th, 7th or 10th) from the Moon.
- Budhaditya yoga: the Sun and Mercury in the same sign.
- Hamsa yoga: Jupiter in its own sign or exalted in a kendra from the Lagna (one of the five Mahapurusha yogas).
