Vesi (also spelled Veshi) yoga forms when any planet other than the Moon — Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus or Saturn — occupies the 2nd house counted from the Sun. Rahu and Ketu are not counted. Classical texts link it with truthful speech, balanced nature, steady effort and a comfortable life; benefics give the best version.

How the yoga forms

Count the Sun’s sign as 1; the next sign is the 2nd from the Sun. If Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus or Saturn is there, Vesi yoga is formed. The Moon, Rahu and Ketu are excluded.

Vesi, Vasi and Ubhayachari are the three classical Sun yogas, counted the way Sunapha, Anapha and Durudhara are counted from the Moon.

YogaCondition (planets other than the Moon, Rahu and Ketu)
Vesi (Veshi)A planet in the 2nd house from the Sun
VasiA planet in the 12th house from the Sun
UbhayachariPlanets in both the 2nd and the 12th from the Sun

Mercury and Venus never move far from the Sun, so they form these yogas often; Mars, Jupiter or Saturn forming them is less common.

What makes it strong

Typical results

Classical texts describe the Vesi native as truthful, even-tempered, hard-working, with a good memory and a comfortable life. By planet: Mercury — pleasant speech, learning; Venus — refinement and comforts; Jupiter — wisdom and courage; Mars — enterprise and command; Saturn — trade, persistence, sometimes a hard early life.
