Nadi is the last and highest-scoring factor of the 36-point guna milan, worth 8 points. Each birth nakshatra belongs to one of three Nadis — Aadi, Madhya or Antya. If bride and groom share the same Nadi, the score is 0 and this is called Nadi dosha. It is fixed by the nakshatra, not by the Moon sign, and it has well-known exceptions.

Different Nadis: 8 of 8. Same Nadi: 0 of 8. Because it carries the most points, a same-Nadi match loses almost a quarter of the total. Traditionally it is read for health and children.
Common exceptions
- Same nakshatra but different padas.
- Same Moon sign but different nakshatras.
- Same nakshatra but different Moon signs (only possible for nakshatras that cross a sign boundary).
