Aswini Nakshatra Palangal: Traits, Padas, Career and Remedies

What is Aswini nakshatra?

Aswini (அசுவினி) is the Tamil name of Ashwini, the 1st of the 27 nakshatras. It spans 0°00′ to 13°20′ Mesha (Aries) and is ruled by Ketu. Palangal means results: the traits and tendencies traditionally read for people whose Moon was in this nakshatra at birth.

What are the traits of Aswini natives?

Tradition describes Aswini natives as quick, energetic, pioneering and helpful, with a natural healing touch. The lord, Ketu, and the presiding deity, the Ashwini Kumaras, the celestial physicians, colour the star.

• Strengths: quick, energetic, pioneering and helpful, with a natural healing touch.
• Watch-points: impatience and starting more than they finish.

These are tendencies of the Moon’s star, not the whole person. The Lagna, the Moon’s strength and the running dasha decide how much of this shows in a given chart.

How do the four padas differ?

Each pada is 3°20′ and falls in a different navamsa, which colours the star:

• Pada 1 (Mesha navamsa, syllable Chu): energetic and direct.
• Pada 2 (Vrishabha navamsa, syllable Che): steady and practical.
• Pada 3 (Mithuna navamsa, syllable Cho): communicative and curious.
• Pada 4 (Karka navamsa, syllable La): caring and protective.

What does Aswini show for career and marriage?

For career, Aswini suits medicine and healing, emergency work, sport, transport and any field that rewards speed. The 10th house and its lord in the full chart decide the field; the nakshatra shows the style.

For marriage, the star gives Deva gana and Adi nadi, two of the factors used in kundli matching, so compatibility is read from both charts together; see marriage and kundli matching.

Which dasha does a Aswini native start life in?

The Vimshottari dasha begins with the lord of the birth nakshatra, so a Aswini Moon starts life in Ketu mahadasha (7 years in full; the balance at birth depends on how far the Moon had travelled through the star). Venus (Shukra) (20 years) follows, then the Sun (Surya) (6 years).

What remedies suit Aswini?

Because Ketu rules the star, the traditional observances are simple and belong to that planet:

• The mantra “Om Ketave Namah” on Tuesdays.
• Worship of Lord Ganesha.
• Charity on Tuesdays — blankets or sesame.

Gemstones are not a default remedy for a nakshatra; a stone is considered only after the whole chart is read.

When is the Moon next in Aswini?

The Moon passes through Aswini about once every 27 days. In the coming months it is in the star on 25–26 October, 22–23 November and 19–20 December 2026 (IST). These are the days when the star’s natives traditionally keep their monthly janma nakshatra observance.
