Vishwakarma Puja 2026: The Date and Timing
The short answer
Vishwakarma Puja 2026 falls on Thursday, 17 September 2026, on Kanya Sankranti — the day the Sun enters Virgo. Unlike most Hindu festivals it is fixed by the solar transit rather than a lunar tithi, which is why its date barely moves from year to year. Tools, machinery and vehicles are cleaned and worshipped rather than used.
Vishwakarma is the divine architect of the Vedic tradition — the maker of Indra’s vajra, of Lanka, of the chariots of the gods. The puja is kept in workshops, factories, garages and offices: the instruments of one’s livelihood are set down, cleaned, garlanded and honoured for a day.
Because the date follows the Sun’s entry into Virgo rather than the moon, Vishwakarma Puja sits on 17 September in most years, occasionally shifting by a day.
Timings follow the New Delhi panchang. Tithi-based dates can shift by a day for other cities and for readers abroad — check your own city’s panchang.

Vishwakarma Puja 2026 falls on Thursday, 17 September 2026, coinciding with Kanya Sankranti — the Sun's entry into Virgo.
