Rajju dosham is part of South Indian marriage matching (the 10 poruthams). The 27 nakshatras are split into five rajju groups — head, neck, navel, waist and feet. If the bride and groom were born in nakshatras of the same rajju, it is called Rajju dosham. It depends only on the two birth stars, not on the Moon’s or Mars’s movement.

How to check
- Find each partner’s birth nakshatra (the Moon’s nakshatra at birth) — a nakshatra calculator gives it.
- Look up the rajju of each star in the table.
- Different rajjus: Rajju porutham is present (good). Same rajju: Rajju dosham.
How much weight it carries
In Tamil and Kerala practice Rajju is one of the most important poruthams, and many families will not proceed with a same-rajju match. Exceptions differ between traditions and families, so the decision should be made after reading both full charts — 7th house, Venus, Mangal dosha and the running dashas — not on one porutham alone.
Remedies
- Worship of the deities of both birth stars.
- Mangalya (thali) related prayers and Mahamrityunjaya mantra, especially for Siro and Kantha cases.
- A wedding muhurat chosen with care.
