Planets & TransitsShani Sade Sati: What It Really Means
Sade Sati is the roughly seven-and-a-half year period when Saturn (Shani) transits the sign before your Moon, your Moon sign itself, and the sign after. It arrives in every life, and its reputation frightens many — often more than it should.
What it actually does
Saturn is the great teacher. Its transit tends to slow things down, strip away what is not essential, and ask for patience, discipline and honest effort. Difficulties during Sade Sati are rarely random punishment; they are usually the working-out of long-standing patterns that needed attention.
The three phases
- Rising phase (Saturn over the 12th from Moon): expenses, sleep and matters of the mind come into focus.
- Peak phase (Saturn over the Moon): emotional and physical endurance is tested most directly.
- Setting phase (Saturn over the 2nd from Moon): family, finances and speech are refined.
Saturn does not take what is truly yours. It removes only what could not last.
Meeting it well
Steady routine, honest work, service to elders and the needy, and remedies suited to your specific chart all help. Many people emerge from Sade Sati stronger, clearer and more mature than they entered. It is a passage, not a verdict.
