Kartik Dosha: What to Check Instead

There is no dosha called Kartik (Karthik) dosha in the classical Jyotish texts. Online descriptions that tie it to the Moon in the 7th or 8th house mix ideas together: the Moon in the 7th is a normal placement, and the Moon in the 8th is judged by its strength and aspects like any other placement. For relationship questions, check the 7th house, Venus, Mangal dosha and the dashas instead.

What to check instead

  1. The 7th house, its lord and Venus — and, by tradition, Jupiter in a woman’s chart.
  2. Mangal dosha and its cancellations.
  3. The Moon’s strength — see Chandra dosha.
  4. The running mahadasha and antardasha.

Kartik month itself

Kartik (October–November) is one of the most auspicious months of the Hindu year, with Diwali, Dev Uthani Ekadashi and Kartik Purnima. Being born in Kartik is not a dosha.
