Hamsa yoga forms when Jupiter is in Sagittarius, Pisces or Cancer and that sign is a kendra (1st, 4th, 7th or 10th) from the lagna. It is not Jupiter in the 5th from the Moon. Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius lagnas cannot have Hamsa yoga from the lagna; some astrologers then check kendras from the Moon.
What makes it strong
- Jupiter not combust and not with Rahu (Guru Chandala).
- Jupiter well placed in the navamsa.
- For Aries and Cancer lagnas Jupiter also rules the 9th or is the lagna-friendly benefic, which makes the yoga especially effective.
- Results show mainly in Jupiter’s 16-year mahadasha.
