Devendra yoga has three conditions: the lagna is a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius); the lagna lord and the 11th lord exchange signs; and the 2nd and 10th lords exchange signs. The lords must be strong. It is not a 9th–10th lord exchange. Texts describe a handsome, famous, wealthy person of high rank — “like Indra, king of the gods”.
How the yoga forms
- Fixed-sign lagna: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius.
- The lagna lord in the 11th and the 11th lord in the lagna.
- The 2nd lord in the 10th and the 10th lord in the 2nd.
Example for Taurus lagna: Venus (lagna lord) in Pisces and Jupiter (11th lord) in Taurus; Mercury (2nd lord) in Aquarius and Saturn (10th lord) in Gemini. Because Mercury and Venus must stay near the Sun, many such combinations are impossible in practice, which makes the yoga very rare.
What makes it strong
- A mere exchange is not enough; the lords must be strong and unafflicted.
- Results show in the dashas of the lagna, 11th, 2nd or 10th lords.
