• A planet is weak, combust or afflicted in the birth chart and its dasha is running.
• A gentle remedy is preferred over a gemstone, which can backfire if the planet is a malefic for your ascendant.
• As a support for mantra practice already prescribed.

It cannot fix a legal case, guarantee a job or replace medical treatment; any promise of that is a red flag.

Mukhi and planets: the standard scheme

This is the most widely used scheme; some traditions differ in details. A planet linked with a bead is a remedy association, not a guarantee of results.

Choosing a genuine bead

• Count the mukhis (natural lines running top to bottom); they should be continuous and natural, not carved.
• Look for joins, glue or filled cracks, especially in rare mukhis.
• The “floating in water” and “copper coin” tests are not reliable; an X-ray or CT report from a reputable gem-testing lab is.
• Buy from a seller who gives a lab report and a return policy.

Wearing it

1. Thread it in silk or wool, or set it in silver or gold; wear on the neck or right wrist.
2. Begin on a Monday morning (or the day of its planet) after bathing: wash it in clean water, light a lamp and chant “Om Namah Shivaya” 108 times, or the bead’s own mantra.
3. Keep it clean; many families remove it before sleeping and at places of mourning.
