How to do Ghatasthapana
- Do it in the morning, in the first third of the day while Pratipada lasts; avoid night and Amavasya.
- Sow barley in a clay bed and place a water-filled kalash with mango leaves and a coconut on it.
- Invoke Goddess Durga, light an akhand diya if you can keep it burning, and read the Durga Saptashati or chant Om Dum Durgayai Namah.
