Varshphal is the Tajika (annual) chart cast for the exact moment each year when the Sun returns to the same degree it occupied at your birth — your solar return, which falls on or a day around your birthday. It is not the Sun’s entry into Aries (Mesha Sankranti), which is used for world (mundane) charts. The varshphal is read with Muntha, the lord of the year and the mudda dasha, always on top of the birth chart.
How the chart is cast
The Sun takes about 365.25 days to return to its natal longitude, so the varshphal moment shifts by roughly six hours each year. A chart is cast for that moment at the place where you are living, and it covers your age-year from that birthday to the next. The method comes from the Tajika system, set out in texts such as Tajika Neelakanthi.
