Rahu Transit 2026

A Rahu transit (Rahu gochar) is the movement of the north lunar node from one sign into the next. Rahu is not a physical body but a mathematical point — the ascending intersection of the Moon's orbit with the ecliptic — and it always moves retrograde, spending roughly eighteen months in each sign and about 18 years for the full circuit.

Rahu is in Kumbha for almost all of 2026 — it entered on 18 May 2025 — and moves into Makara on 5 December 2026 (mean node, IST), where it stays until about 24 June 2028. Ketu, always exactly opposite, moves from Simha into Karka on the same day. Panchangs that use the true node can show the change a few days apart.

What Rahu Does in Transit

Rahu brings ambition, foreign links, technology, sudden rises and obsession to the house it occupies. Classically, transiting Rahu gives its best results in the 3rd, 6th and 11th houses from the Moon — courage, victory over rivals and gains — and needs care elsewhere, most of all over the Moon itself (1st), in the 5th, 8th and 12th. Its results arrive in full only when the running dasha supports them.

Remedies for Rahu

• Recite the Rahu mantra Om Bhram Bhreem Bhroum Sah Rahave Namah on Saturdays, 108 times.
• Worship Goddess Durga; give black sesame, a blanket or mustard oil to the needy on Saturdays.
• Hessonite (gomed) should be worn only after a chart check — it suits few charts and can aggravate Rahu in others.
