Who rules Vishakha?

In the Vimshottari system each nakshatra has one lord, and Vishakha’s is Jupiter. The lord does not change between Libra and Scorpio: padas 1–3 and pada 4 are all Jupiter’s. Rahu rules Ardra, Swati and Shatabhisha, not Vishakha.

The presiding deities are Indra and Agni (Indragni), and the usual symbol is a decorated gateway — a goal reached after effort. Vishakha natives tend to be purposeful and single-minded, with Jupiter’s pull toward principle, learning and growth.

Span and padas

Padas 1–3 fall in Libra (a Venus sign, where Jupiter is not at ease) and pada 4 in Scorpio (a Mars sign, friendly to Jupiter). A Moon in pada 4 is also in Scorpio, the Moon’s sign of debilitation — its deepest point, 3° Scorpio, lies inside this pada, so that placement needs a careful look at the rest of the chart.

Jupiter dasha at birth

Vimshottari dasha starts from the Moon’s nakshatra. With the Moon in Vishakha, the first mahadasha is Jupiter’s (16 years in full). The balance left at birth depends on how far the Moon has travelled through the nakshatra: early in Vishakha, most of the 16 years remain; near 03°20′ Scorpio, very little does. Saturn’s 19-year mahadasha follows.

How to judge Jupiter in your chart

• Dignity: exalted in Cancer, debilitated in Capricorn, own signs Sagittarius and Pisces.
• Houses: which houses Jupiter rules and occupies from your ascendant decide where its results show.
• Combustion and affliction: Jupiter close to the Sun, or joined or aspected by Rahu or Saturn, gives weaker or delayed results.
• Moon–Jupiter link: Jupiter in a kendra (1, 4, 7, 10) from the Moon forms Gajakesari yoga.

Remedies for Jupiter

• Thursday is Jupiter’s day: keep a simple routine of prayer, study or teaching.
• Guru beej mantra: Om Graam Greem Graum Sah Gurave Namah, 108 times on Thursdays.
• Give chana dal, turmeric or yellow cloth, and respect teachers and elders.
• Yellow sapphire is Jupiter’s stone — wear it only after a chart check, because a Jupiter that rules difficult houses for your ascendant should not be boosted blindly.
