The Rama Taraka mantra is most often given as “Shri Rama Jaya Rama Jaya Jaya Rama”; the single name “Ram” itself is also called taraka — “that which carries one across”. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra names Rama as the avatar of the Sun, so this mantra is a gentle remedy for a weak Sun, low confidence and trouble with father or authority. It is not a Rahu mantra.

Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu and prince of Ayodhya, is the ideal of dharma — truthful, dutiful and steady through exile and war. His name is chanted across India as the simplest form of devotion, open to everyone without initiation.
